Local government often has more impact than federal or state legislation, especially pertaining to economic vitality of a region.  The Greater West Chester Chamber has been working with our local municipalities to ensure they take into consideration how any ordinances or regulations adopted by municipalities may affect the business community.  Items of particular interest to the Chamber Membership are:

  • Revitalizing business and shopping districts, including providing enough affordable parking.
  • Working to keep taxes low with fiscally responsible spending.
  • Appropriate land use regulations to allow businesses to locate and grow in Greater West Chester.
  • Professional and informed staff available to the business community and residents.
  • Enacting fair, not restrictive, regulations.
  • Ensuring business owners and management are heard in the political process.
  • Utilizing local business for municipal operations and activities.

In order to continue this effort, the Greater West Chester Chamber is asking our Members to become part of our Grassroots Advocacy, which can effectively change policy through personalized interactions with local elected officials. Through meetings, letters, emails and phone calls,  Grassroots efforts can make a lasting impression on decision makers, providing a first-hand account to make the issue more compelling and relatable.  This type of advocacy can also provide the Greater West Chester Chamber and its members  with strong working relationships with local municipal officials, which allow you to influence the decision making  process.

All politics is local and maintaining a political presence is essential to getting your issues voted on favorably.  Continued municipal support requires commitment, hard work, and effort.  The West Chester Chamber of Commerce staff and Board of Directors encourages our members to reach out to their local elected officials in the following ways:
