Hundreds of Toys Donated to Local Children in Need at Eighth Annual Christmas Toy Drive Breakfast

The Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce’s Eighth Annual Toy Drive, sponsored by WSFS Bank, collected hundreds of toys to be donated to local children in need at the Christmas Toy Drive Breakfast, held last Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at St. Agnes School in West Chester.

Every year, the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce holds a Toy Drive, sponsored by WSFS Bank, to collect new toys to benefit local children in need. From early November through early December, Toy Drive boxes, painted by West Chester Area School District art classes, are staked in WSFS Bank lobbies, as well as a select few other locations, across Chester County, encouraging employees as well as community members to donate a toy for the holiday season. This year, additional drop-off locations included: Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce; La Difference Salon & Day Spa; Shop Rite of West Chester; My Salon Suite; Goshen Family Chiropractic; Market Street Print; and Infiniti of West Chester.

Donated toys are then brought to the Toy Drive Breakfast, held at St. Agnes School in West Chester, where they are divided and donated to three local non-profits dedicated to helping children in need within the community. This year, donations went to Maternal and Child Health Consortium, The Care Center Foundation, and Friends Association for the Care and Protection of Children.

While attendance at the Toy Drive Breakfast has wavered over the years, the sheer amount of toys donated this year astounded attendees.

“We are thrilled to see so much involvement from the West Chester community this year, especially for such a good cause,” said Mark Yoder, president and CEO of the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce. “Every child should get a toy on Christmas, and there were several hundred toys at the Christmas Toy Drive Breakfast this year. It sets the bar high for next year!”

“WSFS Bank is so honored to support the Christmas Toy Drive in West Chester for the past several years,” said Lynn Sponheimer VP, Retail Office Manager at the WSFS Bank in West Goshen. “At WSFS, we take great pride in giving back to our communities, and it’s always so great to play a role in bringing holiday cheer to local children in need.”
